Terracuita dish

28 €

This dish is part of history. The most basic dish used by people in rural Catalonia, originally made of clay collected from the river.

It traditionally has yellow stripes and some flowers. We "stripped" it and flattened it a bit to give it a contemporary twist.

When we eat at home with these dishes we connect with our ancestors, we imagine a family of farmers around the table 800 years ago.

Josep Papaseit, the master potter that has made them one by one, hung them in the oven as it was traditionally done so you’ll see some marks on the back of them.

Josep's family have been potters for 5 generations. The day we met, he was sitting with his father and mother around a lathe in the workshop the three of them chatting. Josep knows everything about pottery, enamels... he is a master.

Look at the photo of his father, now retired from 70 years as a potter.
