Croscat basket
152 €In January, Miquel, like all basket makers, collects by the river the cane and wicker that he will use throughout the year to make his baskets.
The rest of basket makers call Miquel Serra “Master”. He has been making traditional baskets in La Garrotxa, north of Catalonia, for 60 years.
We asked him to make for us a few small cove, this traditional Catalan basket design, but he told us that a nice cove is a 70 cm diameter one. Here you have them.
They are like sculptures, resounding, strong… We glimpse the force of nature in these handles, tamed nature. We are sad to sell them, as they are spectacular.
Typical Catalan design containers traditionally used to carry wood, fruit… Its large dimensions make it very difficult to weave.
Miquel lives in an isolated farmhouse nearby a dormant volcano, the Croscat.
